How did PETFriendly Turismo come about?
“First I’ll introduce myself, my name is Juliana Stephani, I’m a veterinarian and I founded PETFriendly Turismo out of a professional and personal experience in January 2018.
Because of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine I lived in Spain for 1 year, doing an exchange program between universities. After I graduated, I entered the Master’s and lived in Canada for 6 months to do the experiment there.
After finishing my Master’s, I was invited to live in the United States, in Texas, where I lived for another 3 years. – Now you’re going to say: Wow Ju what a cool story…. And that’s where the not-so-good part comes in.
In 2007 (sophomore year of college), I got the best gift of my life, my 4-legged son. This little man in the picture below, who is now 14 years old, is Thor, my Beagle, my whale, my passion!
That’s why PETFriendly was born.
During these 4.5 years, without ever moving to another country, I was not able to take my pet, Thor, and that made me very sick.
It was a feeling of abandonment, of having left my son behind, of wanting to be with him and not being able to. And all why?
Because I was terrified of what could happen to him during the trip, because there was no one who could guide me and help me move with him, and because I didn’t even know where to start.
I’ll tell you that all this scared me so much that I preferred to leave him here safely with my mother, father and grandmother, where he continued to be the king of the house.
But I’ll admit it: I talked to Thor EVERY DAY via Skype so he wouldn’t forget about me.
Anyway, when I decided to go back, I opened PETFriendly and promised myself that no one else would go through what I went through.”
